7 mistakes that drive customers away from Google Maps
A customer searches, finds you on the map and still calls someone else. Most of the time, small mistakes in your Google profile are to blame.

When someone searches “bakery Arad” or “hairdresser near me”, Google first shows a map with three businesses. Whoever is there gets the call. Whoever isn't never learns they lost a customer. These are the mistakes I see most often when I check Google profiles.
## 1. The profile isn't claimed
If you haven't claimed it, anyone can suggest changes: wrong hours, another phone number, even “permanently closed”. You won't hear about it.
## 2. Hours are outdated or missing
A customer who finds a closed door doesn't come back. And Google shows businesses without hours less often.
## 3. The category is too general
“Shop” says little. “Bakery” and “Cake shop” say exactly what people search for. The main category is one of the strongest signals for the map.
## 4. No recent photos
People choose with their eyes. A profile with no photos, or one photo from five years ago, looks abandoned.
## 5. Reviews go unanswered
Every unanswered review, good or bad, is a missed chance to show that you care.
## 6. The address or postcode doesn't match
If your address on Google differs from your website and directories, Google is no longer sure it's the same business.
## 7. No website linked to the profile
The profile says where and when. The website says why you. Without it, customers only compare stars.
